BJP leader and former Maharashtra minister Dr Anil Bonde has been arrested by Amravati police along with other party workers in connection with violence in the city over the weekend. The police are also searching for another BJP leader Praveen Pote.

Incidents of stone-pelting and arson were reported on Saturday during a bandh called by the local BJP unit.

The bandh had been called in protest against stone-pelting during a march carried out by Muslim organisations on Friday to protest against reported religious violence in Tripura.
