Massimiliano Allegri returned to Juventus as head coach after Andrea Pirlo was sacked by the Serie A side earlier on Friday. Pirlo, a former Juventus player who had never coached at any level, was surprisingly appointed last year after Maurizio Sarri was fired by the Turin based club. The 42-year-old finished fourth in his first season in charge and won the Italian Cup and the Super Cup while Inter Milan won the title. Juventus won five straight league and cup doubles under Allegri and also reached two Champions League finals.
