The Taliban have said they would prevent Afghan citizens from traveling to Kabul’s airport to board evacuation flights.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid, however, said foreign nationals could continue traveling to the airport.
Zabiullah Mujahid said the Afghans who had thronged the Kabul airport in recent days should return home, while promising that they would not face reprisals from the Taliban. The group has already announced a general amnesty.
The Taliban said the United States should complete its evacuation and withdraw from Afghanistan by August 31 and the outfit would accept "no extensions" to the deadline.

US President Joe Biden has said that since August 14, more than 70,000 people, including American citizens, NATO personnel and Afghans at risk, have been evacuated from Kabul.
