The US Army has banned the use of the short video sharing app TikTok by its soldiers on official devices, calling it a national threat. The order comes two months after senior lawmakers asked US intelligence officials to probe the Chinese video app and determine if it poses a threat to national security. Most recently, the US Navy issued a ban on the app in mid-December of 2019. CNN reported an Army spokesperson saying that the personnel were asked to uninstall TikTok to avoid any “exposure of personal information.”
