The leader of the resistance force in Afghanistan's Panjshir has said that he wants an end to the war with the Taliban and has sought negotiations.
The head of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, Ahmad Massoud, in a Facebook post on Sunday said that he welcomed proposals from religious scholars for a negotiated settlement to end the fighting, Reuters has reported.

"To reach a lasting peace, the NRF is ready to stop fighting on condition that Taliban also stop their attacks and military movements...A large gathering of all sides with the Ulema council of religious scholars could then be held, Massoud said.
Massoud's group has been resisting Taliban forces in the Panjshir valley north of Kabul. It is the only resistance holdout since the takeover of the Taliban last month.
Taliban forces have claimed that they had fought their way into the provincial capital of Panjshir after securing the surrounding districts.
Several attempts at talks between the Taliban and the resistance force had earlier failed leading to the Taliban offensive in the Valley.
