Additional 5,000 CISF troops to guard Delhi Metro

The government has approved the deployment of an additional 5000 CISF jawans to better guard the increasing network and passenger load of the Delhi metro. The Home Ministry has also enhanced the security-command structure, sanctioning one more officer in the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG). With this new deployment, the Delhi Metro will become the largest single unit under CISF security cover. Currently, the Delhi Metro network has about 9,000 security personnel guarding about 270 stations.
