A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Alaska Peninsula on Monday afternoon. It was felt widely along the southern coast. However, there were no immediate reports of damage. The quake triggered tsunami warning that has since been downgraded to an advisory and an alert has been sent urging residents to evacuate from the coastal areas to higher grounds in the inland. An aftershock of magnitude 5.2 was felt 11 minutes later.
