Six books by American author Dr. Seuss, including 'If I Ran the Zoo' will not be published anymore due to insensitive and racist imagery, Dr. Seuss Enterprises told the Associated Press.
The books portray people in hurtful and wrong ways, the statement read. Among the other affected books are 'And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street', 'McElligot’s Pool,' 'On Beyond Zebra!,' 'Scrambled Eggs Super!,' and 'The Cat’s Quizzer.'
The decision to cease sale and publication of the books was made last year after discussion and feedback from their audience. Books by the author are sold in over a 100 countries and translated to dozens of languages, as well as Braille.
