With the increasing popularity of the T20 leagues around the globe, Test cricket has seen a drastic dip in eyeballs. In their quest to expand the bilateral calendar, ICC's cricket committee may formally consider trimming Tests from 5 days to 4 for the 2023-2031 cycle. Interestingly, If four-day Tests were held during the 2015-2023 cycle, it would have freed up 335 days of scheduled cricket. It isn't a new concept though with the last one played between England and Ireland earlier this year. South Africa and Zimbabwe too played a 4-day Test in 2017.
