At least three people were killed when an Amtrak train between Seattle and Chicago derailed in north-central Montana, a police official said.
As per AP reports, the train had 147 passengers and 13 crew members on board. Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams said that five cars of the train derailed at 4 pm local time near the town of Joplin. Amtrak is working with the local authorities to transport injured passengers and safely evacuate others, he added.
Photos posted on social media showed passengers standing alongside the tracks, some carrying luggage.
