In a bid to reconstruct Notre Dame Cathedral's spire, that was gutted in a fire, 200-year-old oaks are being felled for wood.
The 93-metre-high spire was designed by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in 1859 and was made of wood and coated with lead.
President Emmanuel Macron had said last July that the iconic spire would be rebuilt exactly as it was before the 2019 blaze damaged the cathedral.
In January and February, nearly 1000 oaks in more than 200 French forests were shortlisted for the frame of the transpet and spire. They will be felled by the end of the month.
The trunks will be laid out for up to a year and a half to dry, before being cut.
