After a middle order collapse, it seemed that India had thrown away their advantage over England in the 1st Test but KL Rahul stayed strong and scored 84. Ravindra Jadeja then justified his selection over Ashwin and scored an aggressive 56. Indian tail also wagged a bit before the visitors were bowled out for 278, securing a healthy 95-run lead.
In reply, England had a steady start and ended day 3 at 25 for no loss, still trailing India by 70 runs. Bad light and rain once again forced early stumps but a result looks likely with 2 days of play left.
